Its from the Book...

I've have very few crochet magazines and books to read and do the crochet work. And all of them stacked somewhere at the back shelf. One day Vicky just picks up this Irish crochet book and says see your book lying here from his shelf. I happily took it and was happy to find it :)

All these days from this book I only made flowers. I love to crochet flowers. The love is fulfilled at Sheruknitting youtube videos where there a several crochet patterns for flowers. I'm now more interested in Home decor and decorative items. So my glance went to table runner patterns, doily patterns and so on. I liked this table cloth pattern which I tried yesterday. It is so pretty , called Carnation doily.

In the mean time last week I tried my hand at Snowflakes, it is amazing to see it totally in different shape before and after starching. The whole exercise of making the pattern , starching , giving it shape and letting it dry is much adventurous, that one can just go on crocheting Snowflakes. I tried Snowcatcher's patterns and each one of them is equally interesting than the other.

Doilies here and Doilies there...

Doilies are so traditional, and of course are legendary crochet design! I'd this crochet magazine ,having this pattern, finally I mustered to make this extra large looking doily, with fine thread. It looks amazing after starching.
 And not so large :(

Baggit...its fun!

I got idea for this bag, from the time I ordered knitting cotton. The texture of the thread is so smooth and has no elasticity. And the love for granny square...and of course the thought of it being quicker from using thread. So when I started this bag, I had not visualized this exactly like this, I had not thought of side width, the lining inside, to make it more robust. And the handle, I had different ideas finally settled to this one.
From handle, to the button and the latch holding the button...all customized, this Bag is special to me:)

Colorful Mandalas

I made this colorful Mandala, inspired by many blogs around, did a little bit of tweaking. And found a different usage. I made it to make a bigger wall hanging home decor, but thought this could be a better usage.

This is the final look --

The adventure with beads and sweating that follows...

I used needle threader ( NT) all these days to bead a thread....and recently all my needle threader broke. I went to an extent to use the broken NT , very strenuous, I wonder how do people put beads to crochet thread...

In effort to have proper needle threader I also brought a kit which has thin needle for beading. However I kept it aside thinking it is only for thin threads and not for my crochet thread.

And one fine day when I'd to thread several beads for an already promised project, I had no way but to sit and bead the thread. I was having tuff time, I took several breaks, and was not so happy as the project was getting delayed...and then this plan dawned to me...

So I have this beading kit with thin needles that can take several beads...and hence quicker beading...the problem was the eye of needle is too small for crochet thread. I thought if I can tie the sewing thread somehow to crochet thread and slip over the beads from the needle it would be way quicker and easier.

These tools are of no use till date, the needle and the needle threader which is broken :)
I was feeling for the beautiful needle, so pretty and long to take up several bead at a time.

And sad for ruining all the NT that I brought...

Step1- Tie the crochet thread and sewing thread so that through the knot you can slip the beads.

Step 2- Start beading the thread

Step 3- Slip the beads through the knot

The quick beading set up...

Bracelets...revisited and rediscovered

I've always thought of making crochet bracelet, but somehow didn't actually hooked any...for so long. I've also been collecting at the first opportunity materials for making bracelets but still never made a bracelet. Crystals, hooks, beads, crochet beads, stretching elastic and so on...
Also browsed through many patterns. Finally once a friend asked for few bracelet and swish I made 4-5 bracelet...and now continuing with it:)

Tried some more for the kids, it looked very elegant and loved by kids :) This pattern I got from sheruknitting.com, I went through the youtube video.

Did this recently, getting hooked on to more crochet designs at sheruknitting.com.

Laces oh laces

Recycling mode...

Crochet containers looks cozy and areveasy to make. For me it was to get over with the Yarns, which I'm not using any more...not so fond of doing these items. But the outcome was tempting. Liked the finished product.

It gives me inspiration to collect all the cosmetic bottles and make vase out of them. Vase? anything...pen stand, jewelry box, well basically a container. If you like sound less usage of items this is best way to avoid sounds the container makes! That's one major benefit I find. Can make it more fancier by adding flowers, or other applique on the container!

Coming soon!

Tried with Kitchen tissue roll, this is not so elegant...but is useful as you can see...
This pencil box looks cute!

I tried lady bug theme, any other can also be tried whichever the kid likes :)  Easy said than done...my daughter asks for Chota Bheem, Nobita...all those which I can't think of as theme...finally she now know her Mamma can only at the max do Lady bug, Kitty cat!

Work on T shirt

My daughter is very picky about her dresses. Yes of course at the age of 4 we think we can choose their cloths based on our liking, well I go wrong most often. This is one such T shirt. How I thought she likes Porcupine, and will definitely like them on T shirt. She is always reluctant to wear this. On probing I got to know it is not the Design its the length of sleeves that she dislikes ....what??? Anyways, so I checked with her if I reduce the length will she wear it? She agreed...and I always wanted to experiment crochet with T shirt, what a knock of Opportunity...so here we go!

First thing I cut the sleeves

As tester, added bit of work at the base,

A closer look,

And the final look,well almost....

The final look must be Dhriti wearing it :)
